Instant Markdown is a book by Packt Publishing that gives a complete and concise tutorial and overview of the language. The book is brief but complete (Markdown is not that complex). It provides information on how to install it, gives all the details there are on how to use it, and provides a few pointers and references to useful resources. jq is called in the PKGBUILD, but it's not named as dependency for this package

Looking at the recent commits for both instant-markdown-d and vim-instant-markdown I don't see anything that looks like a fix but indeed instant-markdown-d does not crash for me with the new PKGBUILD so it must have been fixed somehow. Maybe it was actually a problem in socket.io itself and it got fixed there?

Hi, I sincerely apologize for not catching that sooner, it is updated now. I also removed the socket.io patch as it seems to be no longer needed. If it still errors on build for anyone, comment, I'll replace the socket.io patch.

instant-markdown-d installed by this package crashes for me with the following error message:

This seems to be an upstream bug. Patching it to use an older version of socket.io (as suggested in Fails on OS X #13) fixes the problem.

Here is an updated PKGBUILD if anyone is interested. I have also tweaked it to actually install instant-markdown-d from the tarball it downloads - it was just ignoring the tarball and redownloading it with npm.

vim has been made optional.

Can you also make vim an optional dependency? So that we can use it with neovim without having vim installed.

Simply, edit markdown documents in vscode and instantly preview it in your browser.

Note Version 1.0 is a complete rewrite and no longer works using instant-markdown-d.

This extension is build on markdown-it and uses the following extensions:

Calibre kobo clara hd. When you edit a markdown document it should instantly preview in your browser with changes applied as you type.

You browser should automatically open to http://localhost:8090

Configuration

You can turn off the automatic opening of the browser. Just change the default configuration of instantmarkdown.autoOpenBrowser from true to false.

You can then use > Instant Markdown: Open Browser to open the broswer or create a shortcut for the following command instantmarkdown.openBrowser.

Instant-markdown-d

You can turn off the automatic closing of the browser. Just change the default configuration of instantmarkdown.autoCloseServerAndBrowser from true to false.

You can also change the host and port that the server runs on by changing their respective default settings.

Finally you can increase the debounce value from 0 milliseconds to make the plugin less instant.
